Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), Bangladesh | For ensuring the approaches’ long-term implementation by the justice sector, enshrining them within the justice and administrative system in Bangladesh is essential. The Justice and Prison Reform Project (short: Rule of Law Programme, RoL) operates in three areas of activity: · aims to enable institutions at the national and district level to adopt the tested reform approaches and implement them with their own resources. · aims to improve the basis for evidence-based, gender-sensitive and needs-based policy making. · aims to improve access to justice for people in vulnerable situations and disadvantaged groups. This includes developing capacities of professionals from NGOs and District Legal Aid Committees for the deployment of paralegals and developing targeted communication strategies for justice institutions, aiming especially to better reach disadvantaged people. Objectives: In response to the outlined situation the following services are needed for vulnerable groups in the districts of Barishal and Dhaka: · Coordination, communication and establishment of relationship with and among community level actors for legal assistance · Deployment and management of community-based paralegals · Establish dispute resolution/Restorative Justice mechanisms at the community level through RJ facilitators with support of community volunteers · Awareness raising on legal and social issues and information provision on required services in the community · Referral to legal assistance, social safety net programmes and other services as required · Undertake policy advocacy as and when needed and when necessary collaborate with GIZ on district and national level advocacy
