To monitor and research the implications of new intellectual property and patent laws, as well as the implementation of the WTO TRIPS Agreement, on access to medicines in Bangladesh in the post-LDC graduation context.
The project will particularly focus on ultra-poor and marginalized groups, such as Dalits and tea workers, by conducting case studies on their access to healthcare within the existing health system. It also aims to enhance awareness and build the capacity of affected communities and health rights activists to safeguard the right to health and ensure equitable access to essential medicines.
To identify and document the overall socio-economic situation of tea workers and other marginalized communities in Bangladesh through household surveys and data collection.
To raise awareness among community members and local government representatives about their rights and responsibilities, enabling them to advocate for these issues and take collective action.
To build capacity and create opportunities for both men and women through skill development training and income-generating activities, so they can improve their living standards and reduce poverty, while ensuring the inclusion of marginalized and underprivileged groups.
